Weekend in Northern Virginia

In November my sister Patty kept the boys for a weekend and Tim and I stayed in a hotel and enjoyed what was only our second kid-free weekend since Justin was born. We did a lot of relaxing, but also had two major outings.

On Saturday we hiked the Billy Goat Trail. If you're not familiar with it, this trail is at Great Falls on the Maryland side, and includes some fun rock scrambling and great views of the Potomac River. We used to do this hike occasionally when we lived in Maryland, so it was nice to go back.

On Sunday we went to the Udvar-Hazy Center--the annex of the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum located at Dulles. They have a lot of aircraft there that don't fit at the main downtown location. We took a tour and wandered around for a while. The highlight for me was seeing the Space Shuttle Discovery up close.

Please excuse the complete lack of adorable children in the above post.

There are two adorable children in your post, just not the smallest ones. Love, Grandmother
