Bear Creek Lake: Day 5

Tuesday's weather wasn't the best for swimming, so instead we went to a nature program in which a park interpreter helped us catch and identify small critters that live in the lake.

Justin wanted me to help him make his net reach further.

Gram helping Sam:

A tadpole with legs that Justin and I caught:

Interpreter Evan put the smallest bugs and critters in an ice cube tray for us to see better:

Trying for more with a bigger net:

We caught a variety of small critters, including whirligig beetles, which move around really fast on the top of the water. You can see a few of them on the top of the water in our bucket.

The biggest find of the day was a crayfish.

That afternoon, Poppy taught Justin to play War. Justin's first card game!

This certainly seems like a great vacation! I love the tadpole in transition.

Justin could play Uno and Go Fish, too. -- Cousin Ann
